  https://goo.gl/maps/zY7CGYntNLd9mSpH6

  •  BEST DESTINATION TO FIND AND GET TO THE MEETING POINT WILL BE:

DOUBLEETREE BY HILTON HOTEL IN SAN JUAN. ONLY DOUBLETREE HOTEL IN PR

 https://goo.gl/maps/JYg6AvgNEFjnBUyt9

(PLEASE BE ADVISED: IF TAKING AN UBER PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK HE IS GOING THE RIGHT WAY, IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, THAT FOR SOME REASON, THEY DROP PARTICIPANTS AT ANOTHER LOCATION, SOMETIMES QUITE FAR AWAY).

  •   IF COMING BY UBER PLEASE MAKE THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS EARLY. LATELY, THEY ARE HARD TO GET TO.

  •  IF SELF-DRIVING YOU CAN PARK IN ONE OF THE STREETS NEARBY OR THERE IS A $8 ALL-DAY PARKING LOT BESIDE A SHELL GAS STATION IN FRONT OF THE SUPERMAX.

GOOGLE MAP PIN  FOR THE PARKING LOT IF SELF-DRIVING:

  •   IF COMING FROM THE NORTHWEST TO SAN JUAN (EXAMPLES: DORADO, ISABELA, BAYAMON, AGUADILLA, RINCON, ETC.) PLEASE LET ME KNOW, I CAN ARRANGE ANOTHER MEETING POINT FOR YOU.

  •   IF COMING FROM THE NORTHEAST OUTSIDE THE SAN JUAN AREA VIA UBER MAKE SURE TO MAKE THE ARRANGEMENTS EARLY. DUE TO UBER HIGH DEMAND, IT HASN'T BEEN EASY TO GET AHOLD OF ONE LATELY.

  •  IF COMING FROM THE NORTHEAST OUTSIDE THE SAN JUAN AREA SELF-DRIVING, MAKE SURE TO START MAKING YOUR WAY AT 6:00 AM OR EALIER. HEAVY TRAFFIC, USUALLY STARTS AROUND 6:30 AM. THE AIRPORT AREA CAN GET VERY BUSY.

FEEL FREE TO CHECK OUR USUAL MEETING POINTS IN CONTACT/HOW TO GET THERE PAGE(CLICK)

  • WE LEAVE AS SOON AS WE GATHER ALL THE PARTICIPANTS NO LATER THAN 7:00 AM - NO SHOW NO REFUND. (WE DON'T HAVE A COURTESY WAITING TIME AFTER 7:00 AM, WE ARE AT THE MEETING POINT FROM 6:20/30AM TO 7:00 AM, WHICH WOULD BE A 30-40MIN WAITING TIME BEFORE 7:00 AM)

(WHITE 15-PASSENGER FORD VAN - LOOK FOR A LONG CURLY HAIR TOUR GUIDE)

ONCE AGAIN, MAKE SURE TO BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES! (IT FEELS NICER TO HAVE LUNCH IN DRY CLEAN CLOTHES) AND EXTRA SHOES (CAN BE FLIP-FLOPS). SHOES ARE GOING TO GET MUDDY AND WET. IT ALSO HELPS US TO KEEP THE VAN AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE :-)

WHY THE EARLY PICK-UP?

In Puerto Rico, the orographic effect is very common. What happens is, that trade winds push hot, humid air up the mountains and this change in elevation cool's the air, and lower's the capacity to retain humidity. Then, we have condensation, and what we love but we don't like, is precipitation, which usually happens after mid-day. In simple terms, we do not want to see a flash flood in person, Safety first.

“PLEASE BE ADVISED, THAT UPDATES IN THE PICK-UP TIME AND CHANGES TO THE TOUR LOGISTICS COULD HAPPEN DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, SOCIAL EVENTS, ETC.”

FOR THE HIKE:

SNACK, WATER, CAMERA, MEDICATION (EXAMPLES: EPIPEN, INSULIN, ETC)

IN THE VAN (AKA LOCKER)

EVERYTHING ELSE, CHANGE OF CLOTHES, THINGS YOU DON'T WANT TO GET WET, DAMAGE, BROKEN, ETC.

HIKING LEVEL – (PLEASE READ THIS SECTION AND SHARE THE INFORMATION WITH YOUR GROUP)

OBJECTIVE: OFF THE BEATEN PATH - LEVEL MODERATE – THE USUAL HIKING DISTANCE OF THIS HIKE IS AROUND 3.0 MILES IN SEMI-STEEP TERRAIN AND SOME RIVER HIKING.

Please be advised, that this is an attempt to describe the level of the hike, hiking levels tend to be subjective, it DEPENDS greatly on the level of the participant and his/her perspective. The level can be as easy to some participants as challenging and extreme to others. But to keep a standard it would be Moderate with the possibility of some Challenging sections (THIS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE THIS HIKE CONCERNING NOR SCARY. IS ONLY TO PROVIDE ENOUGH INFORMATION, SO PARTICIPANTS HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING AND FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THIS TYPE AND LEVEL OF HIKING)

SUBJECTIVE (THE SENSATION OF INTENSITY CAN FEEL DIFFERENT DUE TO PARTICIPANTS SKILL LEVEL AND WEATHER):

  • IF YOU ARE AN AVID FIT HIKER - THE LEVEL WOULD BE “EASY/MODERATE” (EXAMPLE: CROSS FIT, TRAINS REGULARLY, HIKE REGULARLY, GOOD FOUNDATION IN OUTDOORS ACTIVITIES, SPORTS BACKGROUNDS, KONA IRON MAN/WOMAN, IRON MAN/WOMAN TRIATHLETES KIND OF PARTICIPANTS)

QUOTING A PARTICIPANT:

“……Andre is a really attentive guide, and tries to make the hiking amazing, he paved the path, hang ropes that you can use, etc! I'd say expect some level of difficulty, but at the same time don't be intimidated, if you can run 1-2 miles and have decent equilibrium you're more than skilled I'd say…..”

Please be advised

Participants who are not used to off-beaten path hiking: in some cases, cannot keep up the required pace, cope with steep sections found on this particular hike, and depending on their hiking level, could find it hard to complete the adventure. These can slow everyone down and can result in a safety hazard.

• BEES

• NUTS

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

BECKIE B, DON'T MISS THIS INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE

André is a local who knows the area he brings you to like the back of his hand and conveys his passion for the PR culture, connecting with others, and nature. The tour is definitely a full day of adventure: the pacing is perfect (and personalized) to start slow and easy learning about local coffee production (definitely order an espresso!), then work up to the crazy hike (bring quick-dry clothes and grippy shoes) with whatever stops your group wants, and wind down to a local lunch with an incredible view. Andre will point out really cool flora & fauna and you can dive in at your level during this advanced hike. I'm not an outdoorsy gal, and he balanced challenging each member of the group in different ways with relaxing fun and laughter. We were lucky to go alone as a group of four friends; and André made us immediately feel like part of his family: well taken care of, well fed, and safe.
